WAMS Application Qualifications

Nationally Certified Magnet School & NEASC Accredited Magnet School

Waterbury Arts Magnet School (WAMS) is a Grades 6-12 middle and high school located in revitalized downtown Waterbury, CT. Having been built in 2004 and attached to the historic Palace Theater, WAMS has a tradition of high-performing magnet programs and academic excellence. WAMS offers busing to our out-of-district students, as well as athletic opportunities with participating district schools for those who are interested in playing sports. Magnet Programs include Fine & Performing Arts, Acting, Dance, Visual Arts, Vocal Music, Lighting & Sound, Video Production, Instrumental Music and Photography. 

WAMS middle school, grades 6– 8, is designated to our fourth floor, where students have access to their own office, secretary, and principal.

Application Process

The application deadline for the 2024-25 school year was December 15, 2023

The application process for the 2025-26 school year will begin in October, 2024. Please review our application qualifications.

Participating Partnership Districts with busing included: Region #15 (Middlebury/Southbury), Naugatuck, Terryville/Plymouth, Thomaston, and Wolcott.
Applications from non-Participating Partnership Districts are welcome.
